Vilpian and Environs

Vilpian ... small but nice

At 264 meters above sea level you find the small village of Vilpian, halfway between the two main centres of South Tyrol: Bozen and Meran.
Vilpian enjoys a particularly quiet but strategic location in the Adige Valley, surrounded by vineyards and orchards.
If you look a little closer, you can see three towers dominating the village skyline: the small tower of the old church, the modern tower of the new church tower and tower of the Fire department.  Behind the village, at the foot of the „Tschöggelberg“, the waterfall of Vilpian falls about 82 m into the depths.

A small cable car (museumobil card) brings nature lovers to Schlaneid near Mölten on the Tschögglberg. The about 1.000 m higher located Salten-Hochland invites you to find refreshment on a warm summer day or a homelike picnic in the countryside.

Terlan

Vilpian and Siebeneich are part of the wine village of Terlan, surrounded by vineyards and apple orchards. The “Wine Trail” leads through the vineyards and tells of Terlan’s wine history and culture. The town is also known for its asparagus, and in the “asparagus triangle” of Terlan, Vilpian and Siebeneich, the royal vegetable is the focus of the culinary offers from March to May.

Meran

For a trip to Meran you need about 20 minutes by car or bus. The region of Meran is known for its mild climate and unique alpine-Mediterranean vegetation. The region around Meran offers a wide range of leisure opportunities and activities as well as recreation and relaxation for body and soul.
The botanical gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle and the popular Thermal Baths are particularly recommended.

Bozen

Bolzano/Bozen, the fascinating city with northern European and Mediterranean influences, enchants visitors with its historical sights and the popular “Laubengasse“, a shopping paradise. The city also offers different museums such as the Archeology Museum with the famous “Iceman“, the Messner Mountain Museum by Reinhold Messner, the City Museum with impressive works of art and the Museion with modern and contemporary art.

Day Trips

Due to its favorable location in South Tyrol, Vilpian is the perfect starting point for several great destinations for day trips:
